About the Opportunity
H. Wilson is looking for a full-time Engineering Project Manager based in Fort McMurray, Alberta. You will oversee a substantial, $44M civil contract, with extensive work that includes water and sewer utility installation.
You will supervise the end-to-end construction process, including estimating, establishing schedules, procurement of materials, obtaining permits and approvals, contract negotiations, progress tracking/reporting, and prioritizing health and safety.
Furthermore, you will also take ownership in completing quantity take-offs, preparing cost estimates, collaborating site operations with the Site Superintendent to enforce best work practices, as well as determining financial needs to complete the project.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Managing and directing the project teams through concise communication, coordination, and follow-up necessary to meet the project goals
- Preparing the bid-files, tender process, budgets, estimates, and construction schedule
- Establishing project procedures consistent with contractual documents and the Safety Management Guide
- Ensuring all work products are consistent with industry standards and are under applicable codes and specifications
- Ensuring the scope of work, schedule, and budget are clearly defined and understood by senior management and all project participants, including the client.
- Tracking schedule and budget progress with project milestones, and taking all actions necessary for deadline compliance
- Coordinating training and compliance measures to ensure project procedures are followed
- Identifying and securing necessary approvals for all changes in the project scope, budget, and/or schedule
- Conducting site inspections and participating in onsite meetings to assess progress
- Maintaining ongoing communication with the client to ensure that their needs and project deliverables are met, and make adjustments as they arise
About You
To qualify, you will need an engineering designation specifically in Civil Construction, Water Resources Infrastructure, Municipal, or other related technical training.
In addition, we also require the following:
- At least 3 years of experience working in underground/subsurface water resources and sewer construction projects
- P.Eng designation
- APEGA membership, or ability to obtain one
- Valid Driver's License and clean abstract
- Proven leadership skills
- Financial proficiency and excellent understanding of Microsoft Excel
- Ability to read, interpret, and visualize plans and specifications
- PMP designation (asset)
- Hard Dollar, MS Office Dynamics 365, Heavy Bid/Heavy Job software skills (asset)
