About the Opportunity

Due to our continued growth in Western Canada, Abco Elevator has an exciting opportunity for multiple Certified Elevator Mechanics/Technicians to join our highly collaborative team in Regina, Saskatchewan, on a full-time basis.

As a Certified Elevator Mechanic/Technician, you will construct, maintain, and service elevator systems throughout our client channels, ensuring all work is performed to our professional standard, and prioritizing safety at all times.

While no two days in this fast-paced role will ever be the same, typical responsibilities will include:

  • Working collaboratively with your fellow technicians and our clients to ensure your assigned jobs are completed as requested
  • Being engaged in our company culture, upholding our core values at all times
  • Completing all necessary documentation accurately for every job performed
  • Servicing a range of elevator systems, including hydraulic, traction, and rack & pinion equipment
  • Troubleshooting, installing, and repairing electrical components in elevator systems
  • Assisting the wider team with additional duties as needed

About You

In order to qualify for this role, you'll have a minimum of 4 years of Elevator Mechanic/Technician experience, and have a certification as an Elevating Device Mechanic - Class A (EDMA), or have an elevator constructor license and enough allotted hours to qualify for an EDMA. You will also need to have a valid driver's license and a clear driving record, and be able to regularly clear a drug and alcohol test.

As our ideal candidate, you will bring the following skills, experience, and physical attributes:

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints
  • Experience in electrical troubleshooting of elevator systems
  • Deep knowledge of hydraulic, traction, and rack & pinion elevator systems
  • Working knowledge of basic engineering and construction principles and methods
  • Excellent communication skills in the English language (spoken and written)
  • Have a first Aid certificate or be willing to go through the training
  • Be physically fit, with the ability to stand for long periods, as well as bend, stoop, grasp, and reach
  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight to other parts of Western Canada to work on projects
  • Be tenacious to find the root of problems, and be inventive as you find ways to fix them!

Furthermore, you will be a reliable team member who is able to perform tasks and proactively come up with solutions to arising problems with minimal supervision, while contributing to the success of the team by helping out in a variety of tasks when needed. Your commitment to safety and the proper use of safety equipment is also paramount in this role.
