About the Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst to join the Finance team. This position is a hybrid role based in Peterborough, ON.

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Reporting, the Senior Financial Analyst will lead the Finance Department in day-to-day accounting activities including month-end close, year-end close, assisting with financial statements and reporting, tax returns, budget preparation, and the development and maintenance of management information systems.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in drafting the legal financial statements and the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) notes
  • Monitoring changes in IFRS legislation and updating senior management and the Audit Committee on the relevant changes and their impact on reporting
  • Leading the year-end close process including the coordination and completion of the annual working papers
  • Reviewing accounting records and processes, and recommending and leading implementation of changes necessary for compliance with IFRS standards
  • Preparing corporate tax returns and providing financial support for the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program
  • Providing support to the CFO with corporate finance and lending activities of the group
  • Leading the annual budget process for integration in annual business plans
  • Coordinating financial, payroll, budget, internal control, and reporting matters with other departments

About You

To qualify, you must have a Certified Professional Accountant designation and 3+ years of progressive financial accounting experience.  

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, including financial forecasting, business case development, and data analysis
  • Strong analytical skills, including identifying and resolving complex financial problems, and interpreting and analyzing financial information
  • A valid driver's license
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing, in order to build effective relationships
  • Strong ability to develop constructive relationships in order to work with other departments

Familiarity with Cayenta, BI, Cognos, and Microsoft Excel will also be essential in this role.
