About the Opportunity

Sperling Industries Ltd. currently has an immediate opportunity for multiple experienced CNC Operators to join our team in Sperling, Manitoba on a permanent, full-time basis. We are looking for capable individuals with previous experience involving flat/sheet processing, beam, angle, and channel processing, as well as those with experience involving CNC press brake operation and maintenance.

Successful candidates can work 8-hour day shifts from 7:00am to 3:30pm 5 days a week, or 10-hour evening shifts from 3:15pm to 1:15am 4 days a week, with an evening premium. There are opportunities for overtime on both shifts. 

As a CNC Operator, your day-to-day responsibilities could include:

  • Using Peddinghaus CNC equipment to process structural steel – Angle iron, Plate, Wide flange beam, and channel
  • Flat Steel Processing, including cutting and processing plate material (mild steel and stainless steel) using a laser or waterjet
  • Setting up and operating CNC machines independently
  • Organizing and managing parts and consumables inventory
  • Basic troubleshooting and repairs of equipment
  • Ensuring machines and equipment is maintained
  • Interpreting and understanding drawings and blueprints
  • Performing inspections on finished parts to ensure dimensions and finishing specs
  • Using overhead cranes and forklifts to safely move materials and parts
  • Learning to bend and roll flat material
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment

About You

In order to qualify for this role, you will need at least 1 year of steel fabrication experience, CNC equipment operation, and/or CNC press brake.

As our ideal candidate, you will be able to confidently work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, and have the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment.

You will join us with the following skills or experience:

  • Experience with CNC programming/operation and/or CNC press brake operation
  • Basic understanding of shop equipment and environments
  • Understanding of material types, sizes, and properties, in order to achieve high material utilization, economy, and performance
  • Structural steel CNC processing experience using Peddinghaus Angle Masters, High definition plate processor, as well as a beam and cope line
  • Flat Steel Processing using a laser (Cincinnati) and waterjet (Flow), and comfortable working with cranes and lifts
