Ashbury College is a leading not-for-profit independent day and boarding school for students in Grades 4 to 12 located in Canada’s capital and the traditional, unceded territory of the Anishinàbe Algonquin Nation. About the Opportunity
Ashbury College has an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Head of School, Teaching & Learning to join our campus in Ottawa, ON on a full-time basis, commencing August 1, 2023, however, the successful incumbent will be expected to begin their orientation for several days during the Spring 2023 term.
As a senior member of the school’s leadership team, you will be responsible for contributing to our continuing evolution of inclusive school culture and supporting our pluralism objectives, along with duties such as:
- Leading the development and delivery of innovative teaching practices and student learning
- Supporting the College’s leadership team, working closely with school-wide academic leadership, in particular with the Heads of Junior and Senior schools
- Instilling a passion for pedagogy amongst all faculty, promoting a collaborative creative school environment, and advancing our strategic plan
- Being responsible for the development and enhancement of a framework for faculty growth, excellence, and evaluation that supports learning environments for students
- Developing teaching methodologies, technologies, assessment and evaluation, and professional growth as it relates to our strategic objectives, the Ministry of Education, the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, and our university partners
- Embracing the culture at the school, actively attending key College and community events, supporting the Board of Governors on select committees, and representing the Head of School when absent
More About You
In order to qualify for this role, you must have an advanced degree, a recognized valid teaching license, and progressive teaching, administrative and mentoring experience in international, independent, and/or public school systems. Knowledge of current and emerging teaching methodologies and technology-enabled teaching models and tools is essential. Subject matter expertise to teach one or more courses is required.
As our ideal candidate, you will need to have strong organizational and collaboration skills, as well as being highly innovative and growth-oriented. Your success will be built on instilling collaborative and creative teaching and learning processes, applying exceptional operational management and communication skills, and supporting the success of our students and staff.
