About the Opportunity
Currently, Scuka Construction is looking for a Construction Site Superintendent based in Vernon, British Columbia, to manage our multi-unit/multifamily construction projects. Reporting to the Project Manager, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Organizing and coordinating labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractors during the course of the project
- Overseeing the job site protocols, including safety, efficiency, and compliance with parameters required by the construction documents and regulatory codes
- Delegating responsibilities and tasks to the labour force who are employed by Scuka Enterprises
- Coordinating inspections with building officials and consultants, as required
- Coordinating project mobilization and demobilization, including site layout, fencing, hoarding, and temporary utilities such as power, phone, fax, internet, etc.
- Overseeing employee training, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, labour compliance, and terminations
- Monitoring the reliability and safe work practices of Scuka employees
- Managing various work documentation including employee timesheets, payroll, inventory, equipment service records, project schedules, filing systems, etc.
- Completing daily reports, inspections, and communication using Procore
- Coordinating weekly, biweekly, or monthly pre-construction and site meetings with heads of trade
- Performing daily quality control checks to monitor the project's progress
About You
To qualify, will need to have at least 5 years of site leadership experience, specializing in multifamily, multi-story wood-framed residential construction.
In addition, you must possess the following:
- Onsite construction experience - from pre-construction to finishing
- Site supervisory or assistant site supervisory experience, leading a team of subcontractors and tradespeople
- Good working knowledge of Procore and Bluebeam
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project)
- Extensive blueprint reading in all disciplines
- Understanding and maintenance of a project schedule
- Extensive knowledge of current building codes, reading construction documents such as scopes of work, specifications, blueprints in all disciplines, shop drawings, and contracts
- Excellent relationship-building skills
- Using and maintaining an effective day planner system
- Strong organizational skills including closeout
- Valid Driver's License with clean abstract
Candidates with a degree or diploma in Construction Management or equivalent will be considered an asset, but not required.
Lastly, you will join us with strong attention to detail, time management, and excellent stakeholder relations. The role requires a high degree of leadership and as such, you must be able to effectively delegate tasks in an assertive yet respectful manner.
