About the Opportunity

The County of Simcoe currently has an opportunity for a Compliance Analyst - Early Learning & Child Care to join our team in our Barrie, ON satellite office on a full-time basis. This role has a flexible hybrid model that includes up to 2 days per week working from home.

As a Compliance Analyst, you will work actively alongside licensed child care operators through both on-site visits and remote communication, to support ongoing funding compliance. 

Under the guidance and direction of the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Program Supervisor, you will be responsible for informing the development of procedures, processes, and tools to support compliance-related activities and decision-making.
Your essential responsibilities in this role will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Developing and nurturing positive relationships with local, licensed child care operators
  • Continuously expanding your understanding of relevant provincial funding guidelines and policies
  • Supporting licensed child care operators to ensure understanding, compliance, and financial accountability
  • Undertaking critical review and analysis of operator applications, through a risk-management perspective
  • Creating and updating effective administrative systems and procedures for tracking compliance status of individual operators
  • Recommending changes to policies and procedures to increase productivity and data collection

More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you will need a 2-year Early Childhood Education Diploma or similar post-secondary education, along with a minimum 5 years of progressive experience in early learning and childcare, or a compliance position related to child care. Your previous work will also include significant financial/treasury experience within the early learning and child care fields.

For this role, you will also need a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle, and you must have a clear Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Our ideal candidate will join us with:

  • Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act 2014
  • Working knowledge of accounting, business practices, administration, and financial compliance 
  • An understanding of research, data analysis, and evaluation concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and perform presentations to internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to interpret provincial or other governmental guidelines and directives
  • Project Management experience (asset)
