About the Opportunity
Torex Gold is currently looking for a full-time Principal Engineer, Geometallurgy to join our team in Toronto, ON on a hybrid work model. Occasional travel (15-20%) to our mines in Mexico will be required.
In this role, you will be accountable for populating block models with meaningful metallurgical information that can drive subsequent predictions of plant throughput and metallurgy parameters.
More specifically, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate with the geology group on site to make recommendations on domain definitions and define the sample selection process
- Management of mineralogy testing, ore characterization, and metallurgical response for each unique site
- Determine the type of metallurgical testing required to define ore hardness characteristics, physical characteristics, and metal extraction
- Develop benchmarks, processes, and procedures to support the development of geometallurgical capability within the organization
- In collaboration with the geological team, develop and manage 3D geological and geometallurgical models for metallurgical performance
- Lead risk mitigation LoM planning cycle, plant control philosophy, and/or metallurgical design/optimization in collaboration with the metallurgical and mine planning departments
- Develop the ore feed strategy (blending and stockpiling) to reduce process variability
- Provide prediction of metallurgical parameters such as throughput, recovery, reagents consumption, etc. to the Project Metallurgist and mine development teams for new project sites
- Support the technical due diligence for geometallurgy-related aspects required for future M&A prospects
More About You
In order to qualify for this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, Geological, or Mineral Processing Engineering, along with 7+ years of relevant experience and a Professional Engineer designation.
The following skills, knowledge, and education are strong assets:
- Experience in process, chemical, mining, geology, mineralogy, or metallurgy engineering
- Knowledge of production/resource and metallurgical variables
- Knowledge of geology, processing, mineralogy, and ore characterization
- Experience in gold/copper/silver mining is preferred
- Proven experience establishing, measuring, and communicating all aspects of business performance
- Fluency in Spanish will be considered an asset
