About the Opportunity

Currently, Seaspan Shipyards is seeking multiple full-time Red Seal Machinists, Mechanics or Millwrights, to work in North Vancouver, BC. These positions will support both the facility maintenance or the shipbuilding team (which are separate seniority lists). There are three shifts with the majority of employees on days and afternoons:

  • Morning:      6:15am - 2:30pm Monday-Friday
  • Afternoon:  3:00pm - 11:00pm Monday-Friday
  • Night:           9:30pm - 5:30am Sunday-Friday morning

With support from our collaborative team and state-of-the-art resources, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Assisting with shipbuilding in a new construction shipyard, in collaboration with various teams
  • Following directions while working in a safe & efficient manner
  • Working in a construction environment involving confined spaces, working at heights, physical labor, and in various weather conditions
  • Having the ability and qualifications to wear a respirator while working
  • Participating in up-to-date product knowledge training
  • Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with local codes and regulations

About You

You are looking for a long-term career rather than the next job! To qualify, you will possess a Red Seal Machinist/Mechanic/Millwright certification or a recognized equivalent International Trade Qualification, with a minimum of 2 years of industrial construction experience. 

As a valuable addition to our team, you must have demonstrated proficiency with alignment, rigging, layout, and a variety of hand tooling, along with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and drawings. You have a passion for safety and environmental stewardship, with the ability to work and communicate collaboratively in a team environment and the willingness to help others.
