About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist to join our team in Delta, BC on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a hybrid role with a mix of working from home and from Boundary Bay airport in Delta, with a training period taking place fully in office.

The HR Generalist assists employee relations, identifies and advertises job vacancies, recruits candidates, and assists in the selection and reassignment of employees. Typical duties include consulting and advising employees on contractual and social matters, as well as future employment arrangements. In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring efficient personnel administration and assisting in succession planning.

More specifically, your main duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating personnel and employment strategies including policies, programs, and procedures to address the organization's HR requirements
  • Providing advice to managers and employees relating to the interpretation of the Collective Agreement, HR Policies and Procedures, staffing requirements, and compensation and benefit programs
  • Researching and preparing occupational classifications, job descriptions, salary scales, and competency appraisal measurements and systems
  • Planning and administering staffing, total compensation, training, career development, employee assistance, and employment equity 
  • Managing programs and maintaining HR information and related records systems
  • Co-ordinating employee probations, performance, and appraisal programs
  • Researching employee benefits and health and safety practices, and recommending changes or modifications to existing policies
  • Determining eligibility for entitlements, arranging staff training, and providing information or services such as employee assistance, counseling, and recognition programs
  • Ensuring efficient personnel administration
  • Assisting in the implementation and coordination of succession planning and development programs in cooperation with internal and external specialists and managers
  • Supporting the immigration process for students, new and current foreign employees
  • Designing, developing, maintaining, and delivering soft skills training to employees and managers
  • Participating and providing feedback on resource planning, organizational design, and development
  • Conducting design tooling and reporting for HCM 

More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you will need 1-3 years of related HR experience, along with proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products. A post-secondary degree in Business Administration, HR, or a related field, along with experience working in an unionized environment are assets, but not required.

You are able to work well both as a member of a team and independently, with the ability to apply discretion to sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented and responsible, with strong organization, adaptability, and time management ability to meet deadlines.
