About the Opportunity

Mainstreet Credit Union has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Director of Organizational Development to join our campus in Sarnia or Strathroy, OntarioThis is a hybrid role based in the Sarnia or Strathroy administration offices.

The Director of Organizational Development is responsible for leading the organizational development that supports the growth of both employees and the Credit Union by instilling and supporting a strong employee development and engagement culture. This role works closely with the Chief People Officer to champion a long-term strategic focus on creating an exemplary workplace culture. You will develop and execute the Credit Union’s corporate learning plan and determine, source, and implement the appropriate systems and learning programs in support of the strategy and culture. Define and collect key performance metrics and data. Some travel will be required among our branch locations.  Regions our branches are located include Chatham, Lambton County, Middlesex County, and Goderich.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Developing and deploying employee engagement and recognition strategies focused on culture, team dynamics, and integral relationship to member satisfaction
  • Recommending strategies to ensure continuous improvement in talent and organizational development across the organization and align organizational development programs with business strategies
  • Leading initiatives with direct impacts on the employee experience, engagement, workforce planning, recognition, and succession/career path planning
  • Acting as a resource for leaders and employees with support for performance management, training and development, coaching and career development
  • Supporting all areas of the HR function, including recruitment, compensation, performance management, employee relations, staffing, succession, and health and safety
  • Conducting organizational needs assessments to establish programming in conjunction with annual planning and budgets
  • Ensuring support in place to assist employees in identifying career paths, establishing learning plans and activities required for achieving personal success and continued professional development

More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or work equivalency and a C.H.R.L. designation supplemented with 5+ years of experience in talent development and change management, people management and/or leadership experience. 

As our ideal candidate, you will also need to have the following skills and qualifications:

  • A certificate in adult education or equivalent 
  • Experience building learning programs
  • Strong analytical and critical reasoning skills, with the ability to think strategically and work through complex challenges
  • Demonstrated experience managing diverse stakeholder needs and interests, building and maintaining effective relationships at all levels within an organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation interpersonal skills and superior facilitation skills
  • Results-oriented, with the ability to manage several complex priorities and balance resources within defined timelines and budget
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills, as well as political and cultural sensitivity
  • Ability to respond rapidly to changing technology requirements and business need solutions  
  • Competent and current computer skills, especially Word, Excel, Web browsers, and email
