About the Opportunity
We are currently looking for a full-time Events and Sponsorship Manager, based in Vancouver, BC. In collaboration with an Assistant Manager and a Coordinator, you will be responsible for producing an exciting variety of events and sponsorship initiatives for the construction industry.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Organizing events ranging from intimate gatherings to functions of up to 1,600 and more (e.g., leadership conferences in Whistler, multiple double-shotgun golf tournaments, awards galas, legacy luncheons, pub nights, boat cruises, cocktail receptions, networking dinners, AGMs, industry breakfasts, mentorship panels, in person and online formats, and more)
- Sourcing ideal venues within scope and budget
- Managing contracts with venues, suppliers, and other service providers
- Bringing in fresh ideas to keep the events' calendar varied and exciting each year
- Procuring event sponsorships
- Managing all aspects of event execution from invitations, to prizes, decor and more!
- Assisting with registration, managing members, and sponsorship opportunities with a customer-service mindset
- Working and coordinating with external agencies
- Collaborating with the internal team, including a Member Services Manager and Marketing & Communications Manager
- Sourcing MCs, entertainment, speakers, booking talent, and writing speeches for awards presentations and more!
About You
To qualify, you will need at least 5 years of experience working as an Events and Sponsorship Manager, or an equivalent position.
In addition, the following are essential to successfully perform this role:
- Notable experience in event planning and management (including experience working with external agencies)
- Experience working with and managing a small team
- Someone who is a natural leader, who works well in a team, but is also able to work independently
- Project management, time management, and operational planning skills
- Creativity, flexibility, and willingness to bring fresh ideas to increase member engagement
- Event management education or event planning certificate (asset)
- Fundraising and non-profit experience (asset)
As our ideal candidate, you possess a customer service mentality and excellent communication skills. Moreover, you are highly organized and have great multitasking skills. Lastly, you are a creative person who thinks out of the box, and are always looking for ways to make events more exciting.
