About Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation

Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation (GRPF) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park (GRPP) and other lands that possess an important heritage and ecological value. Established in 2007 by the Harvie Family, our Mission is to protect and promote Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park through engagement, education, collaboration, and conservation.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for a full-time Executive Director to join our team in Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park, located in the stunning landscapes between Calgary and Cochrane, Alberta.

As our Executive Director, you will manage the employees and volunteers at the provincial park and visitor’s centre. You will also oversee the park's various initiatives, such as seasonal support for kids camps and award-winning educational programs, golf cart tours, vegetation management, etc.

Your essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing all employees and volunteers, including conducting quarterly reviews and providing support and guidance
  • Funding development, including grant writing and donor solicitation
  • Maintaining and developing cooperative relationships with stakeholders, including Alberta Parks, landowners, tourism agencies, and community leaders
  • Providing financial, operational, and infrastructure improvement updates to the board on a regular basis
  • Managing communications and outreach efforts including the development of monthly newsletter, web, and social media content
  • Capital project management and Strategic Planning
  • Managing core programs like the Vegetation Management Program
  • Ensuring that all new and existing public programs, events, and services align with GRPF’s mission and vision
  • Acting as the park's head host, meeting and interacting with visitors
  • Hiring and training staff and volunteers

About You 

To qualify, you must have at least 3 years of leadership and fundraising experience, as well as a proficient background in any of the following fields: Environmental Science, history, archaeology, business administration/management, ecotourism, or other relevant field(s).

To succeed in this role, it's essential to have a background or general knowledge in the following:

  • Not-for-profit governance (any industry)
  • Passion and love of nature (e.g., outdoor recreations, camping, hiking, biodiversity, etc.)
  • Leadership and high-level supervisory (e.g., hiring, training, coaching, and mentoring team members and volunteers)
  • Grant writing and fundraising (e.g., funding proposals, donor outreach, sponsorship renewals, etc.)
  • Finance and budgeting

About the Benefits

As a valued member of our leadership team, you will be rewarded with an $85-105K annual salary, commensurate with skills and qualifications, along with:
