About the Opportunity

Scout Talent is currently working on behalf of our client, who works in food production and is based in Mississauga, Ontario, to hire a Maintenance Manager.

You will be responsible for all production machinery, equipment, and facilities maintenance and repairs for the manufacturing plant.  

Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating and executing preventative maintenance programs, according to the manufacturer's specifications, and monitoring equipment and repairs
  • Establishing pre-set inspection maintenance and repair schedules
  • Detecting, evaluating, and resolving any malfunction or issue with production equipment
  • Ensuring repairs are carried out in a cost-efficient and timely manner, maximizing production capabilities and meeting health and safety requirements
  • Participating as an active and contributing member of the Health and Safety Committee
  • Creating and maintaining contracts for all machine and equipment repairs not performed in house
  • Managing spare parts and equipment inventories and third-party service contractors
  • Monitoring the annual maintenance budget monthly to ensure proper cost control
  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date service records and maintenance logs for each major piece of equipment
  • Proactively improving maintenance processes and standards as appropriate
  • Managing, coaching and training team of maintenance technicians

About You

In order to qualify for this role, you should have a post-secondary degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field, along with at least 5 years of experience in maintenance management and supervisory roles within the food production/bakery industry. Possessing an Industrial Electrical 442A or Industrial Millwright 433A License would be a considered an asset.

As our ideal candidate for the role, you will also have knowledge of or experience with the following:

  • Strong knowledge of electronics, controls, mechanical and electrical components found in food manufacturing machinery
  • Formal training on maintenance of manufacturing equipment
  • Strong knowledge of safety standards for food production equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop employee skills
  • Familiarity with Project Management and ERP software systems
