About the Opportunity

Currently, GDLS-C is looking for full-time Vehicle Mechanics to join their Customer Support team. This opportunity is a one-year fixed contract that is facilitated with a contract agency. 

The successful candidate will apply their skills in a dynamic team work environment, supported by the guidance of senior technicians and using written work instructions, on the job knowledge and their own expertise to perform tasks related to Light Armoured Vehicles.  

Your duties will also include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting technical inspections and troubleshoot Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV) systems
  • Conducting repairs, modifications and retrofits on LAV vehicles
  • Assisting in the development of repair estimates
  • Providing advice, guidance and technical assistance to internal and external customers on vehicle maintenance issues and repair procedure
  • Liaising with internal and external customers for resolution of data and technical problems
  • Monitoring parts usage and report on any material issues
  • Preparing input for various management and log reports
  • Providing data to assist in monitoring and tracking project budgets and project status
  • Providing technical, test and repair support to customers at their sites when required

About You

In order to qualify for this role, you will need at least 1+ years experience as an automotive mechanic. 

The following experiences and abilities are essential for the role:

  • Truck, coach or automotive interprovincial certification or qualification with military heavy equipment
  • Experience reading blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Ability to drive a fork truck, operate portable cranes, and other material handling equipment
  • Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Restrictions for confined space
  • Possess a valid driver's license and the ability to qualify for DZ license
  • Experience working with teams and customers
  • Must be able to obtain a valid Canadian Firearms Restricted Possession and Acquisition License 
  • Ability to work onsite in London, Ontario, and travel to customer sites within Canada

About the Benefits

You will receive an hourly salary of $28 to $34, based on skills, knowledge, and experience. In addition, you will receive:

  •  4.45% vacation pay
  • Provision of all equipment and PPE required to perform your job
  • Reimbursement of business travel costs and a per diem when travelling
