About the Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full-time General Accountant to join our team in Calgary, Alberta.
The General Accountant is joining a small team based out of Calgary, Alberta, and will report to the Divisional Financial Controller. The role will be trained to eventually support the Divisional Financial Controller in the day-to-day accounting operation, and to be part of a future succession plan.
More specifically, your essential duties and responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions prior to posting to ensure accuracy
- Supporting the Accounts Receivable team with invoicing and processing cash receipts
- Supporting the Accounts Payable team with entering and matching payables to POs
- Monitoring and communicating with customers on account details for collections follow-up
- Preparing and reviewing standard payable payment runs
- Reviewing and posting inventory receipts and inventory batches
- Daily reconciliation of WIP/inventory/product line accounts
- Tracking, investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies
- Examining inventory problems regarding customer returns/credits
- Maintaining proper electronic filing of accounting records
- New vendor and new customer set up
- Monitoring open POs, SOs, and WOs to ensure transactions are completed in the system in a timely fashion to ensure accounting is up to date
- Assisting the Divisional Controller in implementing changes in accounting policies and procedures
- Assisting the Divisional Controller in continuous improvement in existing ERP systems
More About You
To qualify for this role, you must have a Bachelor degree in Business or Accounting, and be working towards, or have the desire to, complete a CPA designation. Hands-on experience in full cycle accounting and inventory management would be considered an asset.
In addition, the following experiences and skills would be critical for the role:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, inventory management, and ERP softwares
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to prioritize to ensure timely completion of tasks
