About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a Human Resources Manager to join Dakwakada Capital Investments in a full-time basis out of our head office in Whitehorse, Yukon.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, in this senior role you will be responsible for the vision and administration of the Human Resources of Dakwakada Capital Investment and its affiliated ventures, in accordance with the policies, community values, and direction of the CEO and our stakeholders. 

Key duties and responsibilities will include: 

  • Partnering with leaders and manager to anchor the desired culture within the organization
  • Creating and maintaining positive relationships with both employees and managers
  • Providing guidance to other managers when issues arise, and helping resolve internal conflicts tactfully and professionally
  • Developing and implementing policies and processes pertaining to Human Resources, including disciplinary policies
  • Recruiting: participating in career fairs; creating and advertising job postings; screening, selecting, and onboarding candidates
  • Coordinating internal and external training and professional development courses and activities
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable labour and employment policies and procedures to effectively achieve operational goals
  • Thriving in a fast-paced environment, working with a diverse workforce
  • Managing salary grids, payroll, benefits, and other operational aspects of the department
  • Acting with integrity in all aspects of life, representing Dakwakada in the best light at all times
  • Travelling periodically to our ventures in BC and Alberta, as needed

About You

To qualify for this position, you will need post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related studies, as well as a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a Human Resources role, including a leadership position. Experience working with First Nations communities or individuals would be a strong asset.

Similarly, strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills are essential, as is working knowledge of standard computer programs. As a reliable, respectful and assertive leader, you will focus on building strong working relationships with all staff, while upholding and enforcing internal policies and procedures, as required.
