Located on BC's rugged northwest coast, 100-150 km north of Terrace, Nisga'a Lands are blessed with soaring mountains, dramatic lava beds, picturesque fjords, and thriving rivers and streams, complemented by our rich cultural traditions. For visitors and residents, there is a wide variety of activities to enjoy, including fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ATVing, and much more!

The Nisga'a Land Title Office is home to the only Torrens title system operated by an Indigenous Government. This is possible because of the Nisga’a Nation’s ownership of, and jurisdiction over, its lands. The land title system is operated in accordance with the Nisga’a Land Title Act and other relevant Nisga’a statutes. Registered Nisga’a Land is not recorded in the BC Land Title Office or any other provincial or national registry.

The Nisga'a Nation: At a Glance

We have seen our culture thrive, adapt, and endure. Ours is a world of teeming inlets, dense forests, and sleeping volcanoes. It is a land that is as much a part of us as our own flesh and blood. Flowing through this land and our lives is Lisims – the Nass River as it has become known in modern times. The resources of the Nass River Valley have sustained our people for millennia. This bounty allowed us to develop one of the most unique and sophisticated Aboriginal cultures in North America – one with a rich legacy of arts, crafts, dance, and oral history. Today, the Nisga’a Nation includes over 6,200 people residing in the communities of Gitlaxt’aamiks, Gitwinksihlkw, Laxgalts’ap, Gingolx, Terrace, Prince Rupert, Vancouver – and across North America.
