About the Opportunity
Currently, DynaWest Engineering has an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Edmonton, AB on a full-time basis.
As our new Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved in projects ranging from piping, oil & gas, utility, infrastructure, renewables, mining and general industrial sectors. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in both field and office work, and work closely with fellow team members, consultants, contractors, and our clients.
While no two days in this fast-paced role will ever be the same, typical responsibilities will include:
- Managing multiple projects at once, adhering to schedules, milestones, and pre-set budgets
- Helping shape the future, longevity, and long-term financial viability of DynaWest
- Creating budgets, and reviewing and negotiating contracts
- Overseeing design development and technical project preparation, including quality control
- Providing technical support for projects, on small to large scale developments, ranging in complexity
- Collaborating with team members, consultants, contractors, and clients to complete assigned projects
- Inspecting properties to identify relevant restrictions, conditions and/or limitations
- Preparing proposals and technical reports, addressing any issues identified
- Providing mentoring and coaching to assist with the development of junior engineers
More About You
In order to qualify for this role, you'll have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, along with an APEGA registration, or other-province equivalent. For this senior role, you will also have 8-12 years of experience providing consulting engineering services, preferably with small consulting firms.
Previous owners or general managers of a small business will succeed in this role. Leaders with an entrepreneurial spirit and an interest in shaping the future of DynaWest, with the desire to grow with us and eventually oversee business operations — this role is for you!
The ideal candidate will bring the following skills and experience:
- Project Managing, especially in the petrochemical, industrial, and manufacturing sectors
- Knowledge of B31.3, ASHRAE, National Plumbing Code, National Fire Code
- Process piping design associated with retrofits for industrial facilities
- Hydraulic calculations, preparation of technical reports and specifications
- Equipment vendor coordination and equipment selection
- Piping Stress analysis and software (Caesar), working knowledge of CAD
- Designing heating and cooling systems, including design calculations on TRACE 700 or TRACE 3D
Furthermore, you will join us with excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form. Your organization skills will ensure your success in this role as you work on multiple projects in order to meet competing demands in a fast-paced environment. You are able to work effectively both in a team environment and independently, while possessing impeccable interpersonal skills to guide the client experience.
