About the Opportunity

Currently, BCCA is seeking a candidate to lead our Builders Code Program across the construction industry in BC and Canada. This can be a fully remote or hybrid work model position, however, the successful candidate must reside in BC.

The Builders Code sets a standard code of conduct for workers and employers on construction sites in BC, with the aim to put diversity, equity, and inclusion in the forefront of human resources practices among its members. Its focus is also to improve safety, productivity, and retention of all workers, including youth, women, and other visible minorities, free from hazing, bullying, and harassment in all shapes and forms.

Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, you are responsible for delivering and growing the Builders Code program. Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing outreach to potential employers and partners to increase sector engagement
  • Developing and administering budgets, including monthly reports
  • Developing a regional/provincial marketing strategy in partnership with BCCA marketing team to increase employer signatories
  • Refining and expanding training programs in order to increase adoption and revenue
  • Overseeing and managing trainers and Builders Code Advisors
  • Participating in management sessions and strategic planning
  • Participating in and attending conferences and meetings to promote the objectives of the program(s)
  • Monitoring project deliverables and ensuring that all targets are met
  • Working to expand adoption of the Builders Code outside of BC through a licensing program
  • Developing new initiatives to ensure that the design of programs is meeting the needs of the sector
  • Engaging founding partners BCCSA, Minerva BC, ITABC, WorkSafeBC and others in ongoing support for the program

About You

To qualify, you will need at least 5 years of experience in Human Resources, Labour/Employee Relations, People and Culture Management, Sales and Marketing, or Project Management exposure, as well as a post-secondary degree. In addition, the successful candidate must also reside in BC.

Skills, experience, and background in the following will be considered strong assets:

  • Proven ability to lead small teams
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices
  • Finance and budget reporting
  • Management and delivery of workforce development programs
  • Knowledge or quick ability to learn apprenticeship, trades training, and the skill shortage issues facing British Columbia
  • Marketing and managing HR training programs
  • Computer proficiency
