About the Opportunity

Country Prime Meats is currently looking for an enthusiastic Quality Control & Assurance Manager to join our team on a full-time basis in Lac La Hache, B.C. 

In this position, you will be ensuring that our products are manufactured to meet proper industry specifications and our customer's needs. You will be inspecting the quality of incoming and outgoing products, conducting tests, monitoring production processes, and identifying malfunctions while ensuring our products meet company quality and safety standards.

Some of your key responsibilities within this role will include:

  • Planning and leading the quality department including overseeing and guiding the Quality associates to ensure that the company’s HACCP system requirements are being met on a continuous basis 
  • Developing, maintaining, and assessing the Quality assurance programs and reviewing of all quality and food safety records
  • Conducting employee training for GMP, HACCP, SQF, and other training as required
  • Ensuring food safety and quality requirements are met in the plant environment and specifications are met throughout all process steps, from raw materials, processing and packaging finished products 
  • Ensuring completion of documentation provided by HACCP Program on a daily basis
  • Overseeing implementation of all prerequisite programs e.g. supplier approval, pest control, sanitation, and environmental monitoring programs 
  • Contributing and leading internal and external third-party audit programs, including knowledge and experience with current GFSI standards such as SQF, and certified organic to ensure plant compliance.
  • Preparing monthly food safety and quality reports for management review to drive continuous improvement initiatives 
  • Being the point of contact and daily interactions with the CFIA staff to ensure plant compliance with regulatory and export requirements
  • Working with other departments to ensure implementation of food safety and quality programs, reviewing issues, ensuring problems are resolved, and following up on customer complaints
  • Proposing improvements to the production process and updating job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and regular training

More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you will need a minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in quality within a manufacturing environment; experience in the food or meat processing industry is considered an asset. A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Food Science or a related discipline would be preferred, and a combination of experience and education will be considered. You will have knowledge of quality systems (GMP, HACCP, SQF/SQFI), and the HACCP certification is required. 

As our ideal candidate, you'll join us with excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the flexibility to adapt to a new environment. Utilizing your strong problem-solving skills and aptitude for attention to detail will ensure you carry out your responsibilities diligently. You'll have strong teamwork and collaboration skills with a resourceful mindset, and are comfortable using computers and MS Office applications, along with other relevant technology such as gauges, meters, and calipers. You are organized, with up-to-date knowledge of federal and industry standards and an understanding of our target market and consumer needs.

Lac La Hache, located in the Cariboo region of British Columbia is situated about 20 km north of 100 Mile House. Lac La Hache is a beautiful lake well known for its kokanee fishing as well as its trophy size lake trout.
