About the Opportunity

We are looking for a Labourer to join our Locksmith/Commercial Door Service Technician team in London, Ontario on a full-time basis

As a member of our Service Technician team, you will travel to our commercial and institutional clients to repair or install doors and door hardware. You will be responsible for adhering to established safe working procedures, wearing proper safety equipment at all times, and ensuring high standards of workmanship and efficiency. More specifically, your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Adhering to company policies and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, timeliness, and safety.
  • Completing an average of 1 to 6 service calls per day, involving the installation or repair of door and door hardware, and filling out and completing each job's work order.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely project close dates, helping supervisors adjust work schedules to ensure deadlines are met by providing project status updates.
  • Representing our company during daily service calls and speaking directly to our clients.
  • Informing supervisor of the need to order materials as required.
  • Installing or repairing hollow metal, wood, and aluminum doors and frames.
  • Installing or repairing exit devices, closers, automatic doors, locks, and other door accessories.
  • Safely using hand and power tools.
  • Using your knowledge and experience to troubleshoot complex problems.
  • Maintaining tools, submitting tool maintenance or replacement request forms as necessary.
  • Loading and unloading company trucks with the tools and parts needed for the day.
  • Maintaining truck circle check records as required and completing requests for service work needed.
  • Completing other related duties as assigned.

About You

In order to qualify for this role, you will need previous construction experience, and a Valid Driver’s License with a clean driver's abstract. While previous experience working with commercial or industrial door installations, repairs, preparation or assistance, or as a locksmith is an asset, it is not required. We will provide full education through the Door & Hardware Institute (DHI) and hands-on training for the right candidate.

As our ideal candidate, you have the ability to think outside of the box to problem solve, and you are comfortable using hand and power tools safely. You enjoy working in an environment where no two days are the same, and you are able to work both independently and as part of a team. Previous experience with electric hardware, welding, and/or metal fabrication are assets. In addition, you must be able to lift more than 50 pounds.
