About the Opportunity

Currently, High Prairie School Division is searching for an Assistant Superintendent to work within the Division’s boundaries in High Prairie, Alberta on a full-time basis.  

As an Assistant Superintendent, you will be an integral member of the senior management team, reporting to the Superintendent on all matters pertaining to student health and wellness, inclusive of our inclusion team, student services team (psychologists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, etc.), and the operational areas of student attendance and student disciplinary procedures. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervising the following: Supervisor of Inclusion, and the Student Services Team
  • Supervising the following components of the High Prairie School Division's Instruction Program: Kindergarten, Inclusion (PUF, K-12): Wellness and Counselling, Nutrition, Mental Health Capacity Building Project
  • Administering the following projects or operational areas associated with Instruction: Early Entrance (ECS-1), Student Attendance, Student Promotion/Retentions (K-9), English as a Second Language, PAT/Diploma Exam Exemptions and Accommodations, Student Suspensions/Expulsions
  • Providing recommendations and assistance in the policy development, review process, and accountability procedures to enhance and improve the effectiveness of various system operations

More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you will have a Master’s degree with a major in an educational discipline and possess a Permanent Teaching Certificate in the Province of Alberta (or equivalent certification from another province). Successful experience as a teacher or school-based administrator is preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of teaching pedagogy, structures, and systems that support inclusive learning and community development are strong assets.

As our ideal candidate, you possess exceptional communication skills, along with demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic, engaged, and collaborative environment. Above all, you have excellent interpersonal and organization skills, with a strong work ethic and passion to make a difference!
