About the Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Programmer Analyst to join our team in Delta, BC on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a hybrid role with a mix of working from home and from Boundary Bay airport in Delta, with a training period taking place fully in office. As our new Programmer Analyst, you will be responsible for maintaining, debugging, and testing database and software applications and its corresponding hardware systems, and for managing the company’s software deployment system.
More specifically, your main duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting in the development and modification of software applications to enhance functionality, and providing instructions on new or updated technologies to end users.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting established software applications using defined IT processes.
- Maintaining the software deployment system for user profiles and software drivers for Windows environment (CallScript using Ivanti DSM / PowerShell scripting).
- Administering user profiles (Active Directory and SAP) including managing user rights and permissions.
- Maintaining current knowledge of relevant technology, programming skills, hardware, and applications.
- Analyzing, comparing, and proposing IT and telecommunications products while meeting company guidelines.
- Understanding MTU’s internal business processes and supporting the various cross-departmental interfaces (SAP and other software systems).
- Administering company cellular and landline phones.
- Administering IT vendor contracts, such as contract agreements for printer leases, cellular phone carrier, etc.
- Liaising with our IT department in Germany for software related issues.
- Participating in projects relating to redesign of applications and other software systems.
- Analyzing and tweaking exported data from various software systems.
- Gathering, analyzing, and supporting the business department’s technical requirements, applications, and processes, and effectively communicating requirements with local IT and IT in Germany.
- Providing tier-1 & tier-2 technical support in-person or by electronic means.
- Collecting, organizing, and maintaining problems/solutions log and documentation for use by other IT colleagues.
- Completing and assisting with other related duties and projects as assigned.
More About You
In order to qualify for this role, you will need a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a Systems Analyst or Programmer role, ideally with previous experience in an Active Directory and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system environment. In addition, you will need a post-secondary degree in Computer Science with a focus in MIS, or in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
As our ideal candidate, you have a strong customer service attitude and focus with excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels. You have expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10, Office 2016, and of SQL, MS Access and web-based technologies, as well as a solid understanding of computer networking and its terminologies. You have working experience with Microsoft Project, SharePoint, JIRA/Confluence, or other project management platforms, and with Active Directory users and computers. Moreover, you have experience creating feasibility studies, researching, planning and recommending IT solutions. You also have the ability to perform detailed analysis and documentation, and to articulate business requirements and system problems to other members of the IT development/support team.
Previous experience with any of the following programming/scripting languages is considered an asset:
