About the Opportunity

Currently, VictorEric is looking for a full-time Architectural Design Technologist based in Vancouver, BC. You will primarily develop the building design of a project from the concept stage into a construction-ready set of drawing.

Working collaboratively with our team and various municipal contacts, you will also greatly focus on building codes, inspection process, and bylaws for wood-framed structures.

In addition, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Utilizing AutoCAD or Revit in producing design concept models and working drawings, per client requirements
  • Delivering construction-ready blueprints by referencing building codes and bylaws
  • Maintaining project deadlines as assigned, and keeping status updated in project management software
  • Preparing and issuing revision sk’s, site instructions, and change orders to site
  • Developing and maintaining relationship with suppliers
  • Producing sketches and sample boards for presentation, to permitting municipality and/or clients
  • Performing site visits to review trades’ work and answer queries during construction
  • Collaborating with interior designers, suppliers, and contractors in delivering the best use of space and construction methods, within project scope
  • Coordinating with internal team members and external stakeholders to provide assistance with any issues pertaining to the project
  • Supporting and mentoring a team of Junior AD Technologists

About You

To qualify, you will need at least 3 years experience in the local custom design field, with intimate knowledge of city bylaws particularly in Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, North Vancouver, and West Vancouver, along with:

  • Familiarity in zoning bylaws, building codes, municipal laws, inspection routines, and permit application process
  • Post-secondary diploma or equivalent in Building Technology, Drafting Technician, Architectural programs, or related studies
  • At least 3 years experience in architectural drafting and design, with strong skills in AutoCAD or Revit, either through formal training, work experience, or a combination of both

Moreover, the following will be considered an asset:

  • Strong background in design, architecture, and construction of single family, wood-frame construction
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience in custom-builds for single-family residential projects
  • Good sense of design and aesthetics 

We are also looking for a motivated candidate with outstanding leadership skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, excellent time management, and ability to multitask. 

Since you will be our liaison with clients, city planners, officials, consultants, engineers and architects, you will be joining us with exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively connect different internal and external stakeholders as required.
