About the Opportunity

Currently, Valley Geotechnical has an exciting opportunity available for a Civil or Geotechnical Engineer, or Technologist to join our team in either of our Langley or Kelowna, B.C. offices on a full-time basis. 

As our new Engineer, you will be involved in projects ranging from small residential applications to large-scale developments. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on civil engineering and geotechnical projects, including both field and office work, and work closely with fellow team members, consultants, contractors, and the general public.

While no two days in this fast-paced role will ever be the same, your more typical responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical support for projects and working on small to large scale developments, ranging in complexity
  • Completing project-specific deliverables, adhering to project schedules, milestones, and quality
  • Collaborating with team members, consultants, contractors, and the general public to complete assigned project work
  • Inspecting properties to identify relevant restrictions, conditions and/or limitations
  • Conducting field investigations, testing, and mapping
  • Conducting research and analyzing field data, along with preparing proposals and technical reports, addressing any issues identified
  • Providing mentoring and coaching to assist with the development of junior engineers, or collaborating and providing technical support to team members 
  • Demonstrating leadership in achieving project work on time and of the highest quality

More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you'll need a diploma/bachelor's/master's degree in civil/geotechnical/geological engineering, along with the ability to be registered with the EGBC as a P.Eng, or E.I.T. Junior or Senior Engineers, as well as technologists with a diploma, are all welcome to apply. A driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle is required.

As our ideal candidate, you'll join us with excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form. Your organization skills will ensure your success in this role as you work on multiple projects in order to meet competing demands and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. You are proficient with common geotechnical software, Microsoft Office suite, and AutoCAD. You are able to work effectively both in a team environment and independently while possessing the interpersonal skills to liaise with multiple stakeholders.

Above all, you possess strong technical and analytical skills, along with a passion for the work that you do, and an eagerness to learn and build your skillset.
