About the Opportunity

Currently, High Prairie School Division is searching for a Secretary Treasurer to work within the Division’s boundaries in High Prairie, Alberta on a full-time basis. This position will commence on March 1, 2022, or as mutually agreed. 

As the Secretary Treasurer, you will be an integral member of the senior management team, reporting to the Superintendent regarding planning and control of financial/business administration. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of procedures in areas of budgeting, finance, purchasing, payroll, transportation, technology, and facilities. You will also participate in Board proceedings by providing guidance and support for operations and governance, as well as functions stipulated in the Education Act and other related legislation.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing budget administration, including school budget monitoring and development
  • Cash flow management and investments of available cash, and preparing financial and statistical reports, grant claims, and other reports
  • Developing effective administrative procedures for and monitoring and evaluating the Facilities Department
  • Developing, communicating, monitoring, and evaluating the Division's human resources processes and ensuring compliance with all HR legislation 
  • Managing and performing the onboarding process of the Division, including screening, interviewing, reference checks, and Police Information checks

More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you will have a professional CPA designation (or legacy designation CA, CGA, or CMA). You must also possess related business training and several years of senior/management level experience in accounting, or financial management. 

As our ideal candidate, you possess demonstrated commitment to providing leadership and building trusting, collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Experience with applicable provincial legislation, along with experience working with a Board and demonstrated understanding of governance and procedures would be an asset. Above all, you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong work ethic and passion to make a difference.

About the Benefits
