About the Opportunity
Viking Air currently has an exciting opportunity for an Avionics Design & Certification Engineer to join our Customer Service and Product Support team in Calgary, Alberta on a full-time basis. This role is temporarily remote due to Covid-19.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing new and ongoing engineering projects, both in-house and using outsourced engineering services, in accordance with company processes and recognized industry practices
- Working with Customer Service Managers, and other departments on establishing regular communications with all customers, soliciting aircraft operational feedback, and capturing the needs of the customer
- Participating as a member of the Product Development team in vetting customer requests for validity and feasibility, and establishing the means of executing projects
- Providing world-class service and acting as the primary point of contact for customers, operators, maintainers, and Viking staff requests for engineering support services
- Developing design data and associated analysis, demonstrating compliance with airworthiness requirements
- Supporting investigations, technical assessments, design concepts, estimates, and proposal development
- Providing engineering services in support of the development and certification of design change projects in accordance with Viking's Engineering and CSPS standards
- Participating in the Viking R2E program and assisting in the development of standard work for all CSPS activities
More About You
In order to qualify for this role, you will have 10 years of experience in various disciplines of aeronautical engineering, including participation in design changes to aircraft systems and equipment (mechanical/electrical and/or avionics). You will also join us with a bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering. Proven experience in generating, reviewing, and approving certification documents such as compliance plans, specifications, drawings, function test plans, substantiation reports, and ICAs, along with experience in supporting airworthiness certification under a TCCA framework is required.
As our ideal candidate, you'll join us with excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a customer-first attitude. Your strong interpersonal skills will combine with your technical knowledge and engineering project/change management experience to ensure your success as you drive our projects forward within our dynamic working environment. You have the ability to create documents/data using MS Office programs and AutoCAD; experience using CATIA or SOLIDWORKS are assets.
Utilizing your strong aptitude for stakeholder management, you'll work diligently towards competing deadlines while continuously providing relevant solutions to our team and excellent customer service to our clients.
