About the Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity for multiple 2nd Cooks to join our team on a full-time basis in our various locations in Northwestern Alberta. Our shift rotations consist of 21 days on, 7 days off with 11-12 hour shifts per day.
Reporting to the Chef and 1st Cook, you will assist in the preparation of meats, salads, sandwiches and entrees, and be responsible for providing the overall cleanliness of the kitchen and sandwich areas. More specifically, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Assisting Chef/1st Cook with hot and cold preparation when assigned
- Preparing sandwiches for bagged lunches
- Cutting vegetables, wraps, pastries, and having other snack items readily available
- Cleaning, peeling, slicing, and trimming food
- Preparing and serving clients at stream tables
- Meeting with Chef or 1st Cook to discuss preparation, production, handling, storage, rotation, and serving of all products
- Producing sufficient quantities of a variety of sandwiches as per client and company approved menus (up to 600 sandwiches in a shift)
- Handling an assortment of meat
- Defrosting all stock required for upcoming sandwich preparation according to approved HACCP methods and safety procedures
- Ensuring that work areas are kept clean at all times and assisting with the cleaning of general kitchen area
- Following all company, job, and client-specific safety protocols and OH&S legislation
About You
In order to qualify for this role, you will need a minimum of 2 years of related food/hospitality experience, preferably in a remote camp environment, as well as completion of a high school diploma. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Valid provincial FoodSafe certification and Standard First Aid with CPR are also required.
As our ideal candidate, you have excellent communication skills in English (both verbal and written), and are able to interact professionally with customers and co-workers. You have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and know how to effectively multi-task to meet deadlines. You take pride in the quality of your work and have a strong focus on safety.
Please note, due to the nature of the role, you must be able to work physically and regularly lift up to 50 lbs. You must also be able to travel within Western Alberta and work our shift rotations which include nights, weekends, and holidays.
