About the Opportunity

Geotech Drilling is currently looking to add an enthusiastic Heavy Duty Mechanic to work in our Prince George, BC location on a full-time basis. Candidates will be working four 10-hour days a week.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Disassembling and reassembling components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, breaks, clutches, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems, and lubrication systems
  • Inspecting and testing equipment to detect faults and malfunctions in drill units, diesel compressors, hydraulic support equipment, high-pressure water pumps
  • Diagnosing faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required
  • Performing duties that range from routine preventative maintenance to repairing major breakdowns, including troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Contributing to the development of apprentices and working as part of a team to accomplish maintenance goals and targets
  • Servicing attachments and working tools
  • Verifying and repairing emission control systems

More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you have a minimum of 1-3 years of experience with industrial heavy equipment, including hydraulic equipment, diesel engines and compressors, high-pressure water pumps, drill units, diesel trucks, crawlers, and pumps. A combination of education and experience such as apprenticeships are also considered, but preference will be given to individuals with their Red Seal certification in Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics. Candidates must have a valid driver's license, and be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

As our ideal candidate, you have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of equipment, make decisions under pressure, and set priorities. You are a self-motivated individual with a passion for continuous learning, as well as tenacious attention to detail. Previous experience working with drilling equipment would be a strong asset.
