About the Role

SIDMAC is growing fast and has multiple opportunities for Welders/Fabricators to join our team in Abbotsford, BC on a permanent full-time basisWe are seeking individuals to work either the afternoon shift starting at 2:30pm, 4 ten-hour days Monday to Thursday or the morning shift starting at 6:00am, 5 eight-hour days Monday to Friday, with the opportunity for overtime.

In our custom shop environment, you will be responsible for:

  • Operating TIG or GTAW welding equipment to weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and fabricating and assembling structural metal products in accordance with job orders, verbal instructions and blueprints
  • TIG WELD Stainless Steel in a timely manner and to a high standard
  • Working on sanitary and non sanitary tanks, piping and equipment for the process industry - so your ability to work with light gauge sheet and tubing is essential. Those from the food industry or a brewery/winery equipment manufacturing environment are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Operating manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc (TIG or GTAW), gas metal arc (MIG or GMAW)
  • Studying engineering drawings and blueprints to determine the required materials and plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal most efficiently, as well as identifying specific customer requirements
  • Inspecting materials for quality and conformance prior to usage and correct any inconsistencies
  • Adhering to all quality control/assurance procedures 
  • Keeping tools and work area clean and tidy

More About You

The successful candidates will ideally be Red Seal or Journeyman Welders or Fabricators with at least two years of stainless steel experience, however an equivalent combination of experience will be considered. Overhead crane and forklift experience is an asset (in house training is available), and a First Aid level 1,2 or 3 certificate would also be an asset. Strict adherence to safety and risk management protocols will be required.

Above all, we are looking for individuals who are hard-working and positive people with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Those who are detail-oriented, eager to learn, and who take pride in the quality of their work. Recent graduates with a welding certification will also be considered.

In exchange for your hard work and dedication, we offer a competitive wage based on skills and experience: $25-$30 per hour for recent graduates, $27-$38 per hour for Red Seal/Journeyman certified individuals with at least 5 years of experience.
