About the Opportunity

Rocky Point Engineering is currently looking to employ a Field Service Site Inspector to join our offices in Vancouver or Langley, B.C. on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will have the flexibility to work from either the Vancouver or Langley office, on-site, or from home on occasion. Candidates must have a vehicle, driver's license, and the ability to travel within and outside of the Lower Mainland, including periodic overnight trips.

The successful candidate will be responsible for construction administration on various construction sites, which includes general mechanical construction compliance with local, provincial, and national building codes, as well as adhere to contract documents as prepared by Rocky Point Engineering.

More specifically, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting and documenting field reviews on a multitude of ongoing construction projects, managing a list of deficiencies and project close-out documentation, and promptly issuing field reports after each site visit 
  • Coordinating with Rocky Point PM’s, responding to RFI’s (Request for Information), and issuing MSI’s (Mechanical Site Instruction)
  • Issuing mechanical contemplated change order wording (MCCO) with the assistance of PM as necessary
  • Reviewing costing of MCCO’s and issuing recommendations, and reviewing and responding to monthly progress claims
  • Providing field coordination of HVAC, Fire Protection, and Plumbing layouts as required on site
  • Attending project construction meetings and conferring with Rocky Point design personnel for each project
  • Delivering a fully completed and operational mechanical system 

More About You 

In order to qualify for this role, you will need relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering design or hands-on experience working in a mechanical construction trade. A university degree or college diploma in Mechanical/Building Engineering would be an asset. An equivalent combination of education, skills and experience will also be considered.

As our ideal candidate, you are detail-oriented and able to interpret architectural, structural, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical drawings. You should be familiar with applicable building codes and standards, with working knowledge of construction tools and equipment. In addition, you must demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication, organization, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You are able to multi-task and meet project deadlines while collaborating with and fulfilling the expectations of all stakeholders. 

Above all, you are exceptional at relationship management and are able to balance the interests of clients, contractors, and team members to achieve Rocky Point Engineering's standard of excellence.
