Peace Collaborative Services (PCS) is a regional organization providing specialized educational support services across six Northwestern Alberta school jurisdictions.  Grande Prairie Public School Division employs PCS staff on behalf of jurisdictions in the region.

About the Opportunity

Peace Collaborative Services currently has two openings for Speech-Language Pathologists to work in the Grande Prairie and Peace River offices, on a full-time basis. Candidates available part-time may be considered, please note availability on your application.

In this position, you will work collaboratively to integrate student programming with other disciplines such as Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, and for students with visual and/or hearing impairment.

Working with children in the regular school system from Preschool through Grade 12, your responsibilities include:

  • Developing intervention programs, conducting periodic re-assessment/evaluation of individual programs, and recommending adjustments as needed
  • Providing direct treatment intervention to specific children
  • Instructing teachers, assistants, volunteers, and parents in speech-language intervention techniques
  • Participating in case conferences, parent interviews, medical consultations, and clinic programming
  • Researching and providing consultation
  • Supervising para-professional staff and providing programming input for Educational Assistants
  • Providing input into the direction and requirements of the Speech-Language Pathology program in various jurisdictions
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating a quality assurance program
  • Providing input into annual operating and capital equipment budgets
  • Providing input into the development and implementation of group programs and attending staff, department, and other meetings as required

More About You

To qualify for the role, you will need to have registration or eligibility for registration with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists, along with a valid driver’s license. As our ideal candidate, you are self-motivated, an enthusiastic learner, and can work well independently. You are able to show initiative, with excellent problem-solving skills. You must be willing to conduct a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check prior to employment.

Previous pediatric experience is a definite asset, however, there is a great mentorship program available for new graduates. Our next Speech-Language Pathologists will join us with a willingness to enhance their knowledge and clinical skills through attendance at relevant continuing education programs and professional development opportunities.
