About the Opportunity

Currently, Horizon Landscape Contractors is seeking a highly motivated Landscape Construction Foreman to join our team in Langley, BC on a full-time basis. This role will see you working on-site throughout the lower mainland on a 42-hour working week. 

As our new Landscape Construction Foreman, your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the leader when on-site, leading by example and championing the training of crew members
  • Completing jobs by using, and teaching others to use a variety of tools and equipment safely
  • Carrying out required work using power tools, cut-off saws, and tampers, as well as mobile equipment including skid steers and mini excavators
  • Ensuring all tools and equipment are in good working order, and completing minor maintenance as required
  • Providing disciplinary action in conjunction with Human Resources and appropriate superiors
  • Completing FLRA, Inspections, Checklists and Toolbox Talks on a regular basis, while ensuring timely submission of forms to Safety Coordinator
  • Ensuring employee safety on site by following company and WCB policy mandates
  • Providing exceptional customer service and maintaining positive relationships with coworkers
  • Completing tasks within assigned deadlines and budgets
  • Pursuing ongoing education sponsored by the company as required
  • Completing other related duties as assigned

Please note: Although some work inside an office may be required from time to time, the majority of the work is performed outside on job sites with exposure to dirt, dust, dampness, construction debris, possible extreme temperatures, noises, construction material fumes and odors. In addition, the role requires physical dexterity with frequent bending, stretching, reaching, grabbing, holding, carrying and frequently lifting 30-60 lbs. 

About You

In order to qualify for this role, you will need significant trades education (or comparable experience) along with completion of the Heavy Trailer Endorsement for ICBC. A Red Seal in Landscaping/Horticulture is an asset. In addition, you will need at least 1 year of experience at the Junior Foreman Level, along with a minimum of 5 years industry experience in progressive roles. A clean driver's abstract is also required.

As our ideal candidate, you will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. You will have effective time management skills, and be able to plan, prioritize, coordinate, multitask and complete work within prescribed deadlines. You must be able to use Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe PDF, and real-time payroll software. Basic accounting, budgeting, and job-costing reporting skills are needed, along with the ability to read technical reports, construction and contract documents, and to maintain project records. Knowledge of fiscal management principles and procedures is required.

Please note that all applicants must have Steel-Toed Boots, and access to reliable transportation, as not all job sites are on a bus route.
