About the Opportunity
BNP Paribas Group currently has an exciting opportunity available for a proactive Senior Control Analyst to join our team on a full-time basis. Though we are currently working remotely, the successful candidate will be expected to be based within or relocate to the province of Quebec. The job position is based in Montreal and is part of a US/Canada team.
The Senior Control Analyst position is within the Group Control Validation team. This team is primarily responsible for developing and executing validation programs over internal control framework in accordance with the policies and procedures issued by the BNP Paribas Group. The main business line covered by this position is International Retail Banking within US, and the Senior Control Analyst will be working with various lines of business and product.
The successful candidate in this position will coordinate and contribute to the production of standardized controls dashboards/summary reporting for key risks indicators that are communicated to Finance and Regionalal Management, and this position acts as a consultant/project leader to assist various functions in providing short term solutions in mitigating control related issues, as well as formation and implementation of long term preventive solutions.
With varying levels of responsibility and autonomy, some of your key responsibilities as the Senior Control Analyst will include:
At the end of accounting period:
- Reviewing and testing the effectiveness of the controls performed by various NA functions
- Monitoring the account justification 2nd level review
- Contributing to key Group accounting control reporting and ad hoc control memo upon request when an issue is identified
Ongoing responsibilities:
- Implementing the control standard set up according to group instructions to different entities under scope
- Developing the accounting control framework by reviewing, identifying, and documenting accounting controls in place for NA functions (i.e. Middle Office, Back Office, Accounting)
- Contributing to the performance of 2nd level accounting controls on a list of key areas defined by the Standard Accounting Control Group Plan
- Ensuring good coordination with the NA team, particularly whenever an accounting issue needs to be addressed
More About You
In order to qualify for this role, you will need a bachelor's degree in Administration with a specialization in Accounting, along with 3-6 years of experience in financial services, including a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in accounting control and in internal or external audits of financial services. Solid understanding of financial instruments and developed skills in analyzing business supporting processes from an accounting control perspective, along with SOX implementation/review experience will be considered strong assets to have.

You have outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills, in addition to being detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure. You are proactive in seeking information, challenging norms and driving efficiency with the ability to work well both independently and in a team environment. You are rigorous and self-disciplined, with a commitment to maintaining a strong control environment. Advanced technical computer skills, specifically in MS Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint are required.
