About the Opportunity

Currently, Nucor Environmental Solutions is seeking several energetic and motivated Asbestos Abatement Workers to join our growing team in Edmonton, AB, on a full-time basis.

As part of our hazmat division, you will remove asbestos from ceilings, walls, beams, boilers, and other structures while following hazardous waste handling guidelines.

Some of your key responsibilities within this role will include:

  • Assembling scaffolding and sealing off work areas, using plastic sheeting and duct tape
  • Positioning mobile decontamination unit or portable showers at the entrance of work areas
  • Building connecting walkway between mobile unit or portable showers and work areas, using hand tools, lumber, nails, plastic sheeting, and duct tape
  • Installing portable air evacuation and filtration systems inside work areas
  • Spraying chemical solution over asbestos-covered surfaces using a tank with attached hose and nozzle to soften asbestos
  • Cutting and scraping asbestos from surfaces using a knife and scraper
  • Disposing asbestos following guidelines
  • Performing field hazard assessment and control

More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you will need at least 2 years of previous relevant experience within the asbestos removal industry along with an Asbestos Removal Certification. You will also join us with working knowledge of asbestos removal procedures and basic mathematical skills. A valid Class 5 non-GDL Driver's License with clean abstract or reliable transportation will also be required. Finally, you will have your own steel boots and the physical capabilities required to carry out the role as it involves repetitive heavy lifting (30 to 50 lbs). Individuals with extensive experience in the construction industry are also invited to apply.

  • CSTS
  • OSSA H2S
