About the Organization

Created in 2008 and privately held, Harmac Pacific Pulp operates a Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft pulp mill on the east coast of Vancouver Island near Nanaimo, BC. Nanaimo Forest Products (NFP) Ltd., the owner of the Harmac Pacific trademark, restarted the mill with a single production line on October 3, 2008. Since that time the mill has grown to two production lines and a capacity of 380,000 tonnes of world class pulp per year.

Key to the Harmac’s success is the employee ownership model. Our employees are very active participants in the running of the business and have 2 members that they appoint to the company’s 6 seats on its Board of Directors. 

The future of Harmac Pacific Pulp is looking bright. Through extensive capital investments, the organization has made significant improvements to productivity and reliability. In addition, as of 2013, installation has been completed on a 25 MW Green Energy turbo-generator which we currently use to sell power to BC Hydro.

About the Opportunity

Harmac Pacific currently has an exciting opportunity for a temporary, full-time Accounting Assistant to join our 380,000 tonne per year pulp mill in Nanaimo, B.C. whose role is to support the accounting department. 

The primary function of this role involves daily data entry and supplier interface. The scope of work includes: maintaining and recording daily transactions, weekly reporting for internal use and for external suppliers, and carrying out month-end close procedures in our various accounting systems.

To qualify for this role, you will have relevant post-secondary education along with relevant accounting and administration experience. You must also be extremely organized, and able to work well independently, and as part of a team. If you possess extensive knowledge of desktop and enterprise computer software applications, you will do well in this role.
