About the Opportunity
Currently, Carmichael Engineering has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Building Systems Technologist to join our team in Montreal, Quebec, on a full-time basis.
As our new Building Systems Technologist, you'll review quotation requests from our service technicians on parts and labour to ensure successful repair of HVAC systems and equipment.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing labour hours estimated by the technicians to complete the repairs
- Contacting suppliers to get the equipment or parts cost to determine the estimated cost for our customers
- Preparing estimate documentation for National Account customers
- Maintaining accurate estimation and obtaining client's approval
- Working with the local Carmichael branch to plan and coordinate all parts and equipment needs as needed
- Sourcing suppliers at the right value and ordering parts, materials and services for the organization in an efficient and timely manner
- Contacting subcontractors to get an estimate on the work required
- Interacting daily with the National account customer service representatives to ensure all the quotation information is accurate
In order to qualify for this role, you will need at least 5 years of experience as a Building Systems Technologist or an Estimator, preferably with an HVAC contractor or a property management company, along with a college degree in Building Mechanical Systems or refrigeration. You will also need computer literacy skills. We may consider a differing mix of skills, experience, and education.
As our ideal candidate, you'll join us with excellent knowledge of HVAC systems as well as verbal and written communication skills in ideally both French and English. Your strong organizational, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills will combine with your attention to detail to successfully drive several projects at a time. Using your natural aptitude for stakeholder management, you'll work diligently towards competing deadlines while continuously providing relevant updates to our team and clients.
