About the Opportunity

Currently, Orion Construction is seeking an enthusiastic Draftsperson to join our team in Langley, BC on a full-time basis. This role is operating on a remote basis until the current pandemic subsides.  

As our new Draftsperson, you'll be responsible for the development and preparation of preliminary site plans and building layouts for single and/or multi-building developments.

Some of your key responsibilities within this role will include:

  • Reading and interpreting site-specific encumbrances and surveys in order to prepare preliminary site layouts. 
  • Preparing site plans in accordance with municipal zoning and bylaws, registered design guidelines, site surveys, and topographic information. 
  • Making required revisions to the site plan based on stakeholder feedback. 
  • Coordinating the transfer of files to the architect of choice in order to commence the design development phase. 
  • Creating high-level 3D conceptual designs for customers to review on occasion. 
  • Developing and preparing design sketches as required for construction details. 
  • Analyzing the design and conferring with the greater team to resolve undefined details such as site grades or offsite services. 
  • Assisting with the coordination of architectural drawings. 

In order to qualify for this role, you'll need previous relevant experience along with a technical degree or diploma in drafting or the engineering field. Previous experience using AutoCAD is required while previous experience with Revit is an asset. The ability to read architectural, structural, civil, and landscape drawings is also required as is knowledge of general construction practices and national, provincial, and local building codes.
