About the Opportunity

Direct Plus Food Group is seeking a highly motivated Product Marketing Specialist to join our team in Langley, BC. This opportunity is a 14-month, full-time contract position.

In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Marketing and oversee the labelling and packaging for all Direct Plus Food Group products across multiple brands. Your primary objective will be to update and successfully transition the brands’ packaging to meet the new regulatory compliance requirements by December 2021. This role will also see you participate in developing and testing new products, line extensions, recipes, and product enhancements from concept to production launch.

Some of your key responsibilities within this role will include:

  • Maintaining product packaging brand standards to ensure consistent application.
  • Ensuring compliance by coordinating effectively with the Regulatory / Quality Assurance team.
  • Organizing project meetings with cross-functional teams and developing best practice guidelines for defining project scope, timeline and complexity.
  • Providing technical support and guidance during the product development process for all packaging formats and materials.
  • Using project management tools to inform cross-functional teams of status updates.
  • Implementing efficient processes for managing product information.
  • Analyzing product performance, competitive environment and consumer and packaging trends.
  • Managing external agency and vendor partner relationships.
  • Serving as an internal/external liaison for all relevant categories’ product-related issues.
  • Working closely with the marketing team to ensure proper implementation of the marketing strategy, including product launches, promotion and communication.
  • Tracking all product marketing initiatives by creating weekly/monthly reports and assisting in the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Providing pricing strategy recommendations.
  • Presenting new product lines/products to prospective and current clients.
  • Participating in tradeshows and workshops as necessary. 

To qualify for this role, you will need 3 to 5 years of experience in product marketing, from the concept to launch, or experience in a similar role. Experience in Consumer packaged goods will be considered an asset. You'll also need to be proficient in various computer programs, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Products, and have strong project management skills. 

As our ideal candidate, you'll join us with a natural aptitude for problem-solving and the ability to analyze and prioritize your tasks to meet business objectives. Your technical knowledge in graphic design and print production, along with your excellent verbal and written communication skills, will ensure your success in the role.

Above all, you are an energetic self-starter with outstanding time management, organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
