An Opportunity to Make an Impact

Currently, Cooledge Lighting has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Field Service Representative to join our team in either Massachusetts, New York, or Chicago on a full-time basis. This role will require travel but travel will be minimal during the current pandemic. 

As our new Technical Field Service Representative, this role will see you providing direct customer assistance in a professional and efficient manner. While working independently you'll also be responsible for effectively managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously as you strive to develop good working relationships with both customers and internal teams. 

Some of your key responsibilities within this role will include:

  • Supporting customer service and quotations efforts by providing technical information and application support to customers for the company's product lines.
  • Providing ongoing technical support through the warranty period which will include travelling and working on customer sites as needed. 
  • Acting as a technical resource between the customer and the design and engineering teams during the order process to address and resolve inquiries/issues and technical applications as well as ensuring customer requirements are met in accordance with company policies and procedures. 
  • Providing customer training as needed. 
  • Assessing the building and technical risks associated with applicable services. 
  • Representing the Company by interfacing with customers on all post-order services which includes supporting small project efforts and working towards the resolution of critical customer situations.
  • Participating in post-service meetings in order to address quality issues and learnings. 
  • Supporting and providing backup for lighting layouts, lighting calculations, project renderings, wiring diagrams, submittals, or shop drawings. 
  • Understanding and adhering to our customers' safety regulations when working on a customer site. 

More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you will need a technology certificate in either engineering or science, or technically equivalent lighting control experience with DMX and DALI along with 1 to 3 years of experience working with applications engineering or an engineering product. You'll also join us with in-depth knowledge of lightning, electrical components, or related industries. Our preference is for candidates with an electrical engineering background and experience within the lighting industry. Extensive capabilities in CAD is an asset. 

As our ideal candidate, you'll be a self-starter with excellent communication skills and a track record of excellent customer service. Your attention to detail and understanding of project management will allow you to thrive while working towards many competing demands and deadlines. Your passion for the work that you do and your ability to build strong relationships will ensure your success as you work with our wider team to deliver excellent service to our customers.   

Please note that this role will require significant travelling once the current pandemic subsides. This may require you to stay overnight and operate out of a customer facility and entail travelling by vehicle, train, or plane.
