About Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation

Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation (SXFN) is a community located in a semi-remote area on the Fraser River, approximately 85 kilometres southwest of Williams Lake. We were originally two distinct bands, the Canoe Creek band and the Dog Creek band, that have since come together to form SXFN. There are currently 745 registered members within our Secwepemc nation and we all have a shared vision of becoming an economically and politically self-sustaining community that lives the Secwepemc culture, language, and traditions, in a healthy and safe environment.

As a community, we are passionate about education for the next generation. Our education efforts are supported by a strong team of management and educators that span a daycare and the Rosie Seymour Elementary School (RSES). The Teachers and Principal of the Rosie Seymour Elementary School currently educate 25 students using a robust curriculum that also encompasses our heritage and language.
