About the Organization
Created in 2008 and privately held, Harmac Pacific Pulp operates a Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft pulp mill on the east coast of Vancouver Island near Nanaimo, BC. Nanaimo Forest Products (NFP) Ltd., the owner of the Harmac Pacific trademark, restarted the mill with a single production line on October 3, 2008. Since that time the mill has grown to two production lines and a capacity of 380,000 tonnes of world class pulp per year.
Key to the Harmac’s success is the employee ownership model. Our employees are very active participants in the running of the business and have 2 members that they appoint to the company’s 6 seats on its Board of Directors.
The future of Harmac Pacific Pulp is looking bright. Through extensive capital investments, the organization has made significant improvements to productivity and reliability. In addition, as of 2013, instillation has been complete of a 25 MW Green Energy turbo-generator which we currently use to sell power to BC Hydro.

About the Opportunity
Harmac has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Payroll Administrator to join our 380,000 tonnes per year pulp mill in Nanaimo, BC.
As our Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible for providing payroll services for our 350 employees. Your scope of work will include administration of the payroll system provided by a 3rd party provider as well as producing a bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees that complies with the labour agreement, regulatory, and policy requirements.
In order to qualify for this role you will be an independent self-starter who possesses:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of desktop computer software applications.
- Extensive experience in the administration of computer-based payroll systems.
- A proven track record of assuming progressively more responsible positions.
