About Opportunity to Make a Difference

Lumenus Community Services currently has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Client Services to join our team working in Toronto on a full-time basis. This role will operate on a remote basis as much as is possible during the current pandemic. 

As our new Director, Client Services you will oversee a Client Service portfolio that includes Day School Milieu Treatment for children under the age of 13. This role will see you working to ensure that the portfolio outcomes, the team functioning, and the achievement of customer service outcomes are all aligned with the agency's strategic priorities. You will also be responsible for fostering Lumenus' strong reputation within the community and maintaining effective relationships between Lumenus, funders, and external partners. 

While no two days in this leadership role will ever be alike, your more typical responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the clinical philosophy of the services being delivered. 
  • Developing and monitoring services and programs within the service portfolio. 
  • Ensuring compliance with service policies, protocols, and systems in alignment with other clinical services. 
  • Ensuring effective strategies are in plan in order to manage complex internal and external systems. 
  • Ensuring that service standards are maintained and that outcomes are monitored, measured, and evaluated. 
  • Responding to program/service evaluation outcomes by implementing and monitoring improvement plans. 
  • Managing serious occurrences and escalating them to the Strategic Director as appropriate. 
  • Processing client complaints according to established protocols. 
  • Managing budgets, including the monitoring of monthly cash flows and expenditures, of programs within the portfolio. 
  • Submitting government service reports as per established timelines and requirements.
  • Liaising with client families and community members as needed in order to ensure a high level of service/client satisfaction. 
  • Supporting service coordination efforts in order to ensure access and integration for all clients within different programs. 
  • Working with the Strategic Director and other Service Directors in order to anticipate and manage risk related to service delivery.
  • Working collaboratively with all Client Services in order to ensure excellence in the continuity of care, access, and integration. 
  • Working with the Director, Quality and Organizational Performance in order to improve client programming, collaboration, and innovation. 
  • Participating in and supporting the Accreditation/Review process as required and collaborating with members of the Client Service team in order to ensure excellent results.
  • Providing leadership, supervision, performance management, and guidance to a team of 3 to 5 direct reports. 
  • Overseeing talent management activities within the team and integrating required supports within the service portfolio.
  • Promoting a positive, fair, and learning-oriented environment through guidance and leading by example. 
  • Ensuring the professional development of your direct reports according to established parameters. 

More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you will need a Master's in Social Work, Education, or a similar relevant field along with at least 5 years of management experience and extensive non-profit experience specific to intensive services like day treatment or residential. You will also need clinical experience working with young children and their families. Membership with an appropriate professional college is preferred however an equivalent mix of education and experience may also be considered. A current Ontario Driver's license and access to reliable transportation is also required for this role.

As a leader within our organization, you'll be highly motivated and competent in knowledge related to applicable government legislation and initiatives that impact the operations of the service. Your proven track record in developing and sustaining community partnerships will combine with your understanding of child welfare issues and policies to ensure your success in this role. Your strong communication skills and aptitude for stakeholder management as well as your empathetic nature will ensure you to succeed while you work towards many competing demands and deadlines. You'll also be knowledgeable of anti-oppressive and anti-black racism perspectives.
