About the Opportunity

Kinetic Construction is currently looking for a Senior Estimator to join our team in Richmond, BC. 

Reporting to the VP and Vancouver Branch Manager, the Senior Estimator will lead and work as part of the estimating and pre-construction team on a wide variety of commercial and institutional projects.

More specifically your responsibilities as will include:

  • Leading an estimating team of two direct reports
  • Preparing estimates for submitted tenders on projects up to $50 Million and pre-construction estimates on construction management projects
  • Preparing preliminary estimates in an elemental format
  • Conducting value engineering analysis
  • Preparing preliminary construction schedules
  • Leading design-build teams and preparing design-build proposals
  • Working in partnership with the VP/Vancouver Branch Manager to help drive the business forward into the next exciting growth phase 

In order to qualify for this role, you will have least 10 years of experience as a senior estimator working within a general construction manager and hold a degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or a diploma in Building Technology. 

As our ideal candidate you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be a strong team player that enjoys actively collaborating with all areas of the business. You will have an exceptional technical background and experience working on complex institutional, commercial, light industrial, multi-unit residential, and civil structures. You will also have thorough understanding of construction contracts and trade scopes of work.

Knowledge of the Vancouver construction industry market is considered an asset, as is the ability to approach your work day with an attitude of continuous improvement, understanding where improvements can be made and helping to make them happen. 

Finally, strong computer skills will be necessary, including experience with Sage Estimating, Maxwell Systems software, and on screen take-off programs.
