About the Opportunity
Signode currently has an exciting opportunity for a Field Service Technician to join our team in Surrey on a full-time basis. This role will require some after hours and weekend work which may including working away from home and out of province for several days at a time.
As our new Field Service Technician, your primary responsibility will be to install, repair, and service packaging machinery at various customer facilities. This role will see you managing your own field service territory along with assisting other technicians.
More specifically your responsibilities will include:
- Providing support during field visits and tie workflow to schedules in order to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Examining equipment and determining needed installations, services, or repairs.
- Managing schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities based on customer needs, work priorities, and available resources.
- Examining equipment, analyzing inspection reports, and conferring with customers in order to locate and diagnose malfunctions.
- Maintaining, repairing, and overhauling machinery as needed.
- Dismantling defective machines for repair using hand tools.
- Reassembling machines and equipment following repair, testing their operation, and making adjustments as necessary.
- Testing and replacing equipment components using test meters and hand tools.
- Requisitioning and managing materials and supplies such as tools and replacement parts.
- Inspecting, testing, and measuring completed work using devices such as hand tools or gauges to verify conformance to standards or to repair requirements for functionality and safety.
- Satisfying customer needs by making appropriate recommendations and training customers on the proper use of equipment.
- Identifying and presenting opportunities for the additional support of company products and services to the customer.
- Computing estimates and actual costs of factors such as materials, labour, or outside contractors.
- Responding to customer requests and inquiries via phone call or email in a timely manner.
In order to qualify for this role, you will need a minimum of 3 years of field or industrial maintenance experience coupled with a post-secondary certificate in an electrical/mechanical field and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form. Experience working with industrial equipment in a service/repair capacity is also required as is a valid driver's license and your own general hand tools. An electromechanical background and some fabrication experience are preferred.
As our ideal candidate you will also be able to work calmly and effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment, have demonstratable customer service skills and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Your advanced knowledge of PLC programming, hydraulic, and pneumatic technology will serve you well as you work both independently and collaboratively to serve our customers.
