About the Organization
Located in North-central Saskatchewan, the Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) is the largest First Nation in Saskatchewan, and one of the largest in Canada.
Our reserve lands extend from rich farmlands in central Saskatchewan, all the way north through the Boreal Forest to the mighty Churchill River and beyond. Our central administration office is located in La Ronge, approximately 240 km north of Prince Albert, on the edge of the Pre-Cambrian Shield.
Owned and operated by the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, the Keethanow Groups of businesses includes a lumber & furniture store, bingo hall, three confectionary/gas bars, and two grocery stores.
About the Opportunity
The Keethanow Groups of Businesses (KGB) currently has an exciting opportunity for a General Manager to lead our team in La Ronge, Saskatchewan on a full-time basis.
As our new General Manager, you'll work under the direction of the KGB board of directors in a leadership position within the group of companies that make up the KGB and employ approximately 80 staff. In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing the overall operations of various businesses with a focus on potential opportunities and expansion.
While no two days will be alike in this exciting role your more typical responsibilities will include:
- Developing and executing sales plans for the stores in order to maximize sales and profits.
- Developing, leading, and supervising store managers and business associates.
- Supervising financial activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, payroll, special projects accounting, financial planning, and reporting.
- Facilitating any auditing conducted by third parties in order to ensure effective resolution and the swift closure of auditing activities.
- Developing and implementing an inventory control system.
- Creating and enforcing business rules for all financial reporting.
- Investigating variances in budgets, reporting, internal controls, and general accounting and then deploying measures to resolve any variances that arise.
- Designing, developing, and implementing retail business policies and procedures.
- Effectively communicating business and customer service best practice in order to motivate the performance of business associates.
- Developing store managers to be more effective in all aspects of running a small business.
In order to qualify for this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in business, operations management, or a related field along with at least 10 years of experience in a leadership role and 5 years of experience in the retail industry. Previous experience working with northern First Nations people is essential as is the proven ability to understand and interpret financial reports including budgetary guidelines, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expenditures.

Finally, you must be capable of passing a satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector check and have a class 5 driver's license with access to your own vehicle.
