Position

 

Manager, Camp Nunavut.

 

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Global Camp Manager, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the site camp, including building systems, accommodations, food service, and maintenance; Ensure budget goals are met by carefully managing expenses and resources across all camp operations;
  • Perform regular inspections to ensure facilities and services adhere to set quality standards and regulations;
  • Collaborate with the finance team to provide projections for future operational needs, adjusting strategies to align with financial forecasts;
  • Oversee the procurement of necessary supplies and equipment, manage inventory levels, and ensure efficient use of resources;
  • Ensure that food and service meet quality control standards and maintain records of stock, repairs, and wastage;
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols, and act as a key coordinator during emergencies or crisis situations;
  • Implement quality control measures across all departments to ensure high standards in accommodation, food service, and housekeeping;
  • Review logs to identify issues or areas for improvement, taking a proactive approach to resolve concerns and maintain service quality;
  • Coordinate the allocation of accommodations, keeping accurate records and ensuring efficient room assignments and check­ in/check-out processes and economic optimization of travel;
  • Implement and oversee quality control measures across all departments to ensure high standards in accommodation, food service, and housekeeping; Track staff performance and workflow to achieve operational efficiency while maintaining a high standard of service;
  • Cultivate an inclusive and respectful camp environment that recognizes and accommodates the diverse cultural backgrounds of staff and contractors;  Address complaints, operational challenges, or staff concerns in a timely, professional manner to maintain high service standards; and
  • Ensure that all legislative requirements are met, involving safe food handling, fire, safety, and sanitation.

 

Competencies and Requirements 

  • Ten (10) years of experience in accommodation or facilities management with at least Five (5) years in a supervisory role working on a remote site with limited access to resources;
  • A post secondary degree in hospitality management or in the alternative a relevant building trades certification;
  • Food Safety and WHMIS certification and Class 5 Vehicle Operator's License is an asset; and
  • A Nunavut WSCC Supervisory Level II qualification, or ability to obtain same.
