Position
Camp Facilities Maintainer Assistant, Nunavut
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Supervisor, Camp Facilities Maintenance, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, and repair camp equipment to ensure it remains in optimal working condition and meets operational standards;
- Participate in tasks related to the setup of new camp areas and ensure smooth operations by helping with equipment installations and site preparations;
- Perform general cleaning and upkeep of both indoor and outdoor areas to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene across the entire camp;
- Complete various physically demanding tasks such as bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying heavy objects (up to 45 lbs), ensuring work is completed efficiently and safely;
- Check and service camp equipment to ensure everything is functioning properly, promptly addressing any repair needs to avoid downtime;
- Assist in receiving and unloading deliveries of materials and supplies, and organize them as needed to ensure they are easily accessible for future use;
- Complete a variety of maintenance and service-related tasks, including general repairs, inspections, and routine servicing of camp infrastructure;
- Use hand and power tools to install portable buildings, ensuring that all tools are used correctly and safely in accordance with company guidelines;
- Support carpenters, plumbers, and other tradespeople by helping with service-related tasks such as measuring, cutting, and handling materials as directed; and
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed and materials used.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
- Three (3) years of general facilities maintenance experience with exposure to Ancillary equipment. Prior work at a mine site and/or remote location with limited access to supplies and equipment is preferred;
- A High School diploma;
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labour; and
- Ability to comprehend, read, write and converse in functional English to ensure safe working conditions on site.
