Position

 

Supervisor, Camp Facilities Maintenance, Nunavut

 

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Manager, Camp, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for direction and execution of daily camp and site operations such as camp maintenance, fresh water supply, signage, cleaning, waste management, parking, safety inspections, security, snow removal and aircraft ground support;
  • Participate in creating the maintenance department’s budget, including manpower, materials, and costs for preventive, restorative, and corrective maintenance, working closely with the manager to meet financial goals;
  • Apply engineering principles, building codes, regulations, and skilled trades to develop and implement preventative, corrective, and restorative maintenance programs tailored to the facility's needs;
  • Ensure all asset information, time, and materials are accurately entered into the system and provide detailed reports on asset life cycle, downtime, repair time, failure rates, and other critical performance metrics;
  • Develop a comprehensive preventive maintenance schedule outlining repairs, replacements, and major projects, specifying manpower, materials, and subcontractor needs to ensure timely execution;
  • Review, update, re-prioritize the Maintenance Task list which creates a detailed list of short-, medium- and long-term Maintenance activities & priorities for the department; Assess completed maintenance work for quality and if it meets B2Gold Nunavut’s standards and identify improvement opportunities; and
  • Oversee compliance with all federal and provincial regulations, safety codes, and standards related to development, building permits, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire safety, and occupational health and safety (OH&S), ensuring all work meets legal and safety requirements..

 

 

Desired Competencies and Requirements

 

  • Five (5) years of experience in a remote mining setting in a camp or facilities role with minimum three (3) years as a supervisor;
  • Knowledge of and experience in heating, electrical generation and distribution, structures, plumbing and environment control systems in a remote off grid configuration and ability to operate light industrial equipment such as skid steers, loaders etc;
  • Building trades certificate, Red Seal or equivalent is preferred;
  • A Nunavut WSCC Supervisory Level II qualification, or ability to obtain same; Experience working with Indigenous groups in a professional capacity; and
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Excel and Word.
